We brewed this new version of the IPA style with Pale Ale malt, and a bit of Cara Red for a touch of sweetness. We wanted big fruit hop character to compliment the actual fruit we would be adding to the brew, so we used El Dorado and Crystal hops in the kettle. As to the Fruit addition: we put blood orange in the FV, hoping to impart a bit of color (while most of the sugars ferment out), and then added both blood orange and mango to the serving tank to give the flavor and sweetness to the beer- not so much that it tastes purely like fruit juice, mind you.
If you can't taste the hops, then it isn't much of an IPA- so we dry-hopped with both El Dorado and Crystal to help out with that!
