We’re tying up a stellar Deep Wood season with our January release featuring the introduction of Dethurana (imperial stout aged in bourbon and Brazilian amburana barrels) and the return of Mineshaft Gap (barleywine aged in Cognac barrels). We will also be releasing two final variants from our Twenty Ten Collection: Barleywinery D.B.X.O.J. La Cerise (double-barreled V.S.O.J. finished in French cherry liqueur barrels) and the Sur Lie collaboration with our friends at Surly Brewing (stout blend aged in bourbon barrels and finished on freshly emptied red wine barrel lees). We’ll also have Surly in the house! Meet one of the brewers and enjoy a Surly guest brew on tap (announcing soon).
Friday, January 23, 2–10 p.m.

Join us in the taproom for our release party where we will feature all of the above beers including some draft-only variants:
Mineshaft Money Barrel
This single barrel of sweet component Straight Jacket was aged for thirteen months in a Cognac barrel with a double dose of new, fire-toasted French oak. The firmer tannic structure in this singular example presents leaner on the finish despite its elevated malt profile compared to the main Mineshaft Gap release.
Sanctuary #26 D.B.X.O.D.
Aged a total of five years, this exceedingly old double-barrelled blend of Deth’s Tar and Dark Mode stouts is fairly saturated with caramel fudge malt, and oaken vanilla.
Malörted by the Empire
A nod to one of our favorite draft variants from the past few years, this single barrel of Deth’s Tar was aged for five years in a Jeppson’s Malört barrel. Wood tannin is minimal from the third-use American oak cask, allowing the spirit’s supple herbaceousness to provide balance to this inky black, super-aged stout.
Other People’s Barrels Vol. II
A follow-up foray into our most wine-focused variants to-date, O.P.B. Vol. II celebrates everything we love about big, dumb, Paso Robles wines, in a stout. Built from the same blend comprising our collaboration with Surly Brewing and Herman Story Wines, Sur Lie, this single barrel features a blend of lees from Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinot Noir. A cocktail of organic acids and French oak extracted from the lees over several months of bâtonnage (lees stirring) drive this stout squarely into beer/wine hybrid territory.
