On Wednesday, February 1st, we release Old Country Altbier at the brewpub and tap room.
A German-style brown ale fermented with the Kolsch yeast from the Ghost Ride. Old Country has low fruity esters, a dry toasty malt character, and a nice lingering bitter finish.
This brew is fermented similarly, at cooler temperatures than our house ale yeast, with a longer, cold maturation. “Alt,” or “old,” refers to the method of fermentation, as ale yeast strains were used before the advent of modern refrigeration and the use of lager yeasts.
