Brewed with specialty malts from the “Chateau” line of Castle Malting in Belgium, this strong dark Belgian ale is a nod to some of the oldest and most celebrated beers in the world.
Strong, dry, and low in bitterness, this beer breaks subtly with tradition with an assertive late addition of Hop Head Farms German Select. Flavors of dark stone fruit are accentuated by fruity/spicy esters from Bastogne yeast.
The name is a mash-up. “Chateau” comes from the malt selection and “Lefors” is a reference to Joe Lefors, the old west lawman who pursued Butch Cassidy and his “Hole in the Wall Gang”. It’s also got the word “4” in it.
