This German-Style brown ale is fermented with the Kolsch yeast from the Ghost Ride, and is fermented similarly- at cooler temperatures than our house ale yeast-with a longer, cold maturation. ALT, or OLD, refers to the method of fermentation, as ale yeast strains were used before the advent of modern refrigeration and the use of Lager yeasts- and it is associated with the town of Dussseldorf, GR. “Sticke” (shtee-kah) means ‘Secret’, and are often special brews that are unannounced… Essentially, this is to an Alt, what an ESB is to a Best Bitter. A fuller-bodied version! This beer has low fruity esters, with a dry, toasty malt character, medium body, and a nice lingering bitter finish. The origin of the name is a ‘Sticke’…
