Though dark in appearance, our German-style black lager is a light-medium bodied beer. The use of Briess Midnight Wheat and Patagonia Perla Negra barley malt gives it its deep brown hue, without the associated roast malt bitterness that you might get in other dark beer styles (like Porter or Stout) -- and the smooth character is aided by an extended maturation period (nearly seven weeks in the fermenter). It is a malt-forward brew, with earthy-roasty notes, and finishes with a medium hop bitterness from the German Spalt.
