Deep Wood Series Release Featuring Straight Jacket, Ryeway to Heaven and V.S.O.D.M.

After a year-plus in fresh American oak barrels, our most time-intensive and complex beers arise to meet the world as the Deep Wood Series. On November 18th, we release Straight Jacket, Ryeway to Heaven, and Very Special Old Dark Mode, along with some exclusive draft-only variants at the Taproom. You can place your preorder starting Tuesday, November 14th at 9 a.m. for Friday’s release.

Pickups will begin Friday at 2pm*, where the Taproom will be pouring the featured beers and draft variants. The Revolution Brewpub will also be pouring all three release beers when it opens at noon on Friday, November 18th. Season Ticket holders can begin to pickup starting Thursday, November 17th at 2pm. *All pick ups must be completed within 30 days of this release.

  • Ryeway to Heaven 4‑packs will be $30, limit 3
  • Very Special Old Dark Mode 4‑packs will be $40, limit 3

DRAFT VARIANTS

Our Barrel team builds these special draft-only release variants to pour exclusively at our Deep Wood Series releases. They’re only available at our Taproom, so please join us on November 18th to try:

Double Barrel V.S.O.D.M. — Single Barrel - (contains lactose)
Unblended sweet component Dark Mode Imperial Milk Stout aged two years, spending a year each in Wild Turkey Russel’s Reserve and Basil Hayden Toasted Oak Bourbon barrels. Sweet, boozy, and with equal measures of rich, chocolatey, maplely maltiness, and oak-derived vanilla and coconut.

D.B.V.S.O.R. Lux Eighteener — Single Barrel
This extra-sweet component of Ryeway to Heaven spent eighteen months in a Jim Beam Distiller’s Masterpiece French oak PX Sherry cask before finishing in a Knob Creek 18 Year Bourbon barrel for a final six months. The confluence of copious malt sugar and extended aging delivers the now-familiar maple punch we so love in our Ryewine, with a bold, balancing punch of booze and lumber.

D.B.V.S.O.R. PX Apple Brandy — Single Barrel
This extra-sweet component of Ryeway to Heaven spent eighteen months in a Jim Beam Distiller’s Masterpiece French oak PX Sherry cask before finishing in a Laird’s Apple Brandy barrel for a final six months. Unabashedly malty-sweet with pronounced notes of maple, vanilla, baking spice, and apple, you’d think we put a whole bunch of grandma’s pie in the mash. We didn’t.

2019 Boss Jacket (14% ABV) — ½ barrel
Aged in French oak WhistlePig The Boss Hog V, The Spirit of Mauve ex-Calvados Rye Whiskey barrels, this special edition of our award-winning BA English Barleywine was brewed to retain a little extra sweetness, allowing the additional malt sugars to compile layers of stupefying complexity over time.
