While other barrel programs slumber in the height of summer, we’re rubbing our eyes and dusting off the cobwebs.
We kick off the 2023–24 Deep Wood Series with three heavy hitters. Dread & Breakfast gets its sunrise, conjuring notes of cocoa, vanilla, maple, and subtle smoke, in this, the most important beer of the day. Cuvée de Grâce, a meticulous one-time barrel blend, arrives like a once-in-a-lifetime eclipse, and Life Jacket gives the S.S. Straight Jacket the tropical treatment. Each four-pack will be $40 and limits have been removed since the presale on our webstore.
Join us around town for sneak peek of all three July Deep Wood Series releases at Preview Parties, held in Chicago and beyond, on Thursday, July 20th. For times and locations, head to revbrew.com/events
Pickups will begin at the Revolution Brewing Taproom (3340 N. Kedzie Ave.) on Friday, July 21st at 2 p.m., where we’ll have all three beers on tap and the following draft-only variants:
Supermassive Dread & Breakfast — 15.9%
Our delectable Breakfast Cuvée gets the ol’ Supermassive treatment with over ten pounds per oak barrel of Freshly Roasted ® Dark Matter cocoa-fermented Guatemalan Catuai from Finca San Jeronimo Miramar, in this, a most absurd single-adjunct symphony of flavor.
D.B.V.S.O.L (Lumberstruck) — Single Barrel — 15.1%
Following a seven-months-long rest in young French oak GSM wine barrels from Saxum in Paso Robles, CA this black barleywine was dosed with additional single-origin French oak, rebarreled in a George Dickel 18 year bourbon barrel, and finished with a slug of “Extreme Vanilla” French oak for a further year. This sweet, maple-forward barleywine is balanced with a rich, towering oak structure and just enough booze to ready the palate for another sip.
V.S.O. Boss Ryeway — SIngle Barrel — 15.7%
After two years in a single WhistlePig Boss Hog VIII Lapulapu’s Pacific French oak rum finishing cask this off-dry component Ryeway to Heaven boasts notes of vanilla, maple, candied pecan, caramel, and treats the palate to a long, dry, oaky, boozy finish.
If you have a Season Ticket, you may pick up starting Thursday, June 20th at 2 p.m. The Revolution Brewpub (2323 N. Milwaukee Ave.) will also be pouring all three release beers when it opens at noon on Friday, July 21st but will not have the draft variants.
All beer preorders must be picked up within 30 days of the release (by 6 PM on Sunday, August 20th).
