V.S.O.J. and Code Switch Release

10.02.18   |   Beer, Brewery, Event

To kick-off the first of four Deep Wood Series releases, we’ll be releasing our highly anticipated barrel-aged Barleywine, V.S.O.J. & Code Switch, a collaboration with Sun King Brewery.

A celebration of malt, oak, and patience, Very Special Old [Straight] Jacket is a cuvée of English Barleywines each aged between two and three years in our favorite bourbon barrels. Lusciously sweet and colossally complex, V.S.O.J. is equal parts refinement and excess. The barrel-aged Barleywine clocks in at 13.8% ABV.

ALC. BY VOL. – 13.8% BITTERNESS — 20 IBUS

Built on a dual algorithm written alongside our friends from Sun King Brewery, this new, complex Imperial Ale was brewed with maple sugar, dark candi syrup, and a blend of Belgian yeast cultures. An early switch from Tennessee whiskey to Kentucky bourbon barrels ensured the integrity of the code–with the addition of unfermented blackberries for balancing sweetness and subtle tartness. Code Switch rings in at 14.5% ABV.

V.S.O.J. AND CODE SWITCH FAQ:

1.) Will 4‑packs make it until the next day?
We won’t know that until we see the turnout at the release events, so we’re not able to predict how long each beer will be available. We will announce at the end of the release event if any 4‑packs remain.

2.) Will any of the variants be on tap the following day?
There’s a chance we will have draft-only variants on tap the following day. Please check our website or our Untappd page, which we update in real-time, to see what is on draft.

3.) Where will Code Switch and V.S.O.J. cans be available?
Code Switch and V.S.O.J. cans will be available at the Revolution Taproom and Brewpub. Code Switch 4‑packs will see limited distribution outside of the Revolution Taproom and Brewpub. Please use our Beer Finder to locate Code Switch at a location near you beginning the week following the release.

4.) Will there be food available at the release events?
The Revolution Taproom doesn’t serve food, but we encourage customers to bring their own food, and we’ll have food trucks scheduled to come and serve Rev fans.

5.) Is the beer ready to drink right away?
All of our Deep Wood Series beers are already aged between 6–36 months (depending on the beer) before we package them. They’re absolutely ready to drink right away, and we don’t recommend piling them on a lonely shelf for years at a time. Seriously — we made these beers for you to enjoy. Bottoms up!

6.) How do they age over time in a can?
We flash pasteurize our Deep Wood Series beers. We’ve also tasted many of our beers aged over a year in cans and haven’t picked up any big changes in flavor apart from the effects of normal aging. And again, we really think they’re great now and hope you will too.
