DRAFT LIST:
In addition to the featured beers, VSOD & Ryeway to Heaven, we’ll be pouring the following draft-only beers for the party:
- SINGLE BARREL VSOD — WOODFORD RESERVE / 13.5% ABV - Our classic barrel, the one to which all others are compared, has a wonderful balance of oak & spirit with a smooth finish.
- SINGLE BARREL VSOD — OLD FORESTER / 13.8% ABV — This barrel leans towards spirit, but has enough oak presence to keep it from being overly strong.
- SINGLE BARREL VSOD — WOODFORD RYE / 14.0% ABV — Rye whiskey provides a spicier flavor than sweeter corn-based bourbons. This barrel has a rich oak profile which pairs beautifully with a perceived dryness from the spirit.
- RESERVE BARREL VSOD / 13.0% ABV — At the end of each barrel filling day we wind up with one barrel that isn’t quite full. Topped-off with Straight Jacket, this barrel is smooth & sweet with a delicate chocolate flavor & aroma.
- NITRO RYEWAY TO HEAVEN / 13.0% ABV — A classic preparation of our beloved Ryewine, this one-of-a-kind keg is uber full-bodied, complex, and smoother than Han Solo at a Hall & Oates concert.
Additional options on draft include: Deth’s Tar, Cafe Deth, Rev Pils, Fist City & Fistmas.
All credit card terminals will be used at the packaged beer sales. As a result, draft pours at the party will be CASH ONLY at the following prices:
- 5oz Barrel-Aged Beers, including variants: $6.00
- 16oz Non-Barrel-Aged Pints: $6.00

ABOUT THE BREWS:
VSOD — Barrel-aged Imperial Oatmeal Stout - 13.4% ABV — For those of discerning taste, this blend of specially selected Deth’s Tar Imperial Oatmeal Stout barrels, each aged a full two years, is a showcase of barrel character. “Very Special Old Deth” demonstrates the flavors and aromatics which can only be achieved through extended barrel aging and obsessive TLC. Enjoy now with pinkies extended or store cold.
RYEWAY TO HEAVEN — Rye Barleywine Ale Aged in Rye Barrels — 13.0% — Brewed with over 60% rye, this limited production rye ale has a seductively ample body which suggests sweetness while retaining a dry finish. Aged 12 months in American Rye Whiskey barrels, this “Ryewine” as we call it, is wholly unique in its malt and barrel-derived complexities.

4. WHY DO THE BARREL-AGED BEERS COST MORE THIS YEAR?
While the price is higher for the package, we are providing a significant improvement in cost per ounce for our most familiar Deep Wood Series beers: Deth’s Tar, Ryeway to Heaven, and Straight Jacket. Additionally, the new format and price allows us to provide up to 4 consumption occasions per package, instead of 1.
5. IS THERE A PURCHASING LIMIT ON 4‑PACKS AT RELEASE PARTIES?
VSOD and Ryeway to Heaven will each have a limit of four 4‑packs per person. Deth’s Tar and Cafe Deth 4‑packs will also be available to purchase during the VSOD & Ryeway to Heaven Release Party with no purchasing limits.
Limits for the Straight Jacket, Mineshaft Gap, and DB VSOD Release Party on January 12 will be announced at a later date.
6. HOW LONG WILL EACH DEEP WOOD SERIES BEER BE AVAILABLE FOR?
Availability will be determined by the turnout at the release parties. We are unable to guarantee how long each beer will remain available for sale, however Deth by Cherries is sold out.
7. WHERE WILL DEEP WOOD SERIES CANS BE AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE?
All Deep Wood Series beers will be released at the Revolution Tap Room. There will be limited distribution of Deth’s Tar, Cafe Deth, and Straight Jacket to select retail accounts following the release parties.
8. WILL THE RELEASE PARTIES HAVE DRAFT-ONLY VARIANTS?
Yes. Draft-only variants will be announced during the week of the release party.
9. WILL THE VARIANTS BE AVAILABLE ON SATURDAY?
We do not expect any variants to remain on tap beyond Friday’s release party.
10. WILL BOTH CASH & CREDIT CARDS BE ACCEPTED?
Packaged Beer sales will accept both credit cards and cash, however draft sales inside the party will be Cash Only.
11. WILL THERE BE FOOD FOR THE VSOD AND RYEWAY TO HEAVEN RELEASE PARTY?
The following Food Trucks will be on-site each day:
- Bruges Bros (Outside)
- Cafe Tola (Inside)
12. CAN I LEAVE THE PARTY AND IMMEDIATELY RE-ENTER TO USE VISIT THE FOOD TRUCK?
Yes
13. WHAT SIZE CANS WILL THE DEEP WOOD SERIES BEERS BE PACKAGED IN? HOW MANY CANS COME IN A PACK?
All Deep Wood beers will be in 4‑packs of 12 ounce cans.
14. WHY DID REVOLUTION DECIDE TO MAKE THE SWITCH FROM 22OZ. BOTTLES TO CANS?
We are making this change to give consumers better value per ounce, compared to the 22oz. bottle, and to bring down the container size to accommodate individual enjoyment.
15. WILL THE NEW PACKAGING AFFECT THE TASTE?
We expect quality to increase with the move to cans since we are able to fill them with significantly less oxygen or TPO (Total Package Oxygen) in the package.
16. WILL THE CHANGE OF PACKAGING AFFECT THE SHELF LIFE OF DEEP WOOD SERIES?
All of our Deep Wood Series beers are already aged for 6–24 months before we package and sell them so they do not need additional aging and we do not recommend saving these for beers for years. Drink them! With the move to cans, we expect the quality and shelf life to increase since we will fill the cans with less dissolved oxygen than our 22 oz. bottle filler.
17. WILL PASTEURIZATION AFFECT THE SHELF LIFE OF THE DEEP WOOD SERIES?
Pasteurizing these beers is a new adventure for us, but we believe it is the right thing to do to ensure extended quality for these beers that age in wood for months. The flash pasteurization method we are using should not significantly affect the taste and will increase the shelf life of the beer.
18. WILL CANS AFFECT HOW THE FLAVORS EVOLVE OVER TIME?
We have tasted many beers aged over a year in cans and have not tasted any major flavor changes other than the beer aging normally. Again, we do not recommend long-aging of these beers as they have already been aged 6–24 months in the barrel and are ready to drink now.
